Technical Project Manager - Project Management, HTML, XSLT, CSS Flash and Perl, Web Design Systems / Software Design / Web Development Projects - based in Glasgow - My high-profile Global Media & Broadcasting client seeks a Technical Project Manager to manage the effective delivery of future media-based projects across all platforms and contribute to the strategic development of overall output within the client's business.
As the ideal candidate you will be tasked to deliver against the following criteria:
- To oversee the management and delivery of projects, ensuring work is prioritised, scheduled and delivered to the agreed specification and deadline.
- To participate in the initial development of editorial projects to ensure that all business-area opportunities, problems and limitations are explored.
- To anticipate, manage and resolve risks and issues, acting as a clearing-house for problems and escalating to a suitable authority when required.
- To ensure that all development is in line with overall business objectives and meet the need of wider business guidelines.
- To monitor and sign-off the technical delivery of projects and services to ensure they are delivered to the highest quality, fully compatible with the systems and compliant with technical standards, liaising with external suppliers and partners as required.
- To liaise with stakeholders in to ensure that editorial priorities are met within the scope of resources available
- To oversee technology assurance and support of media production systems (e.g. transcoding farms) used across the regional business.
- To work with the wider technology community, and key suppliers to ensure continuity of operation for critical systems, software and hardware across the department.
- To establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders including staff in other departments, divisions and third parties.
- To chair and participate in project meetings as appropriate.
- To understand the underlying technical architecture and supporting processes and workflows in order to make sound judgement on suitable approaches.
- To mediate between technical and editorial communities where appropriate, including writing technical briefs for non-technical audiences.
- To ensure that projects are well documented and managed efficiently.
- To prepare timely and accurate reports of departmental activity and performance.
As the ideal candidate you will have the following skills, experience, knowledge and background:
ESSENTIAL:
- Project management skills with a demonstrable ability to prioritise and plan activities taking factors such as deadlines and resource availability into account.
- Excellent working knowledge of new media technologies including HTML, XSLT, CSS Flash and Perl.
- Broad understanding of Web design systems and experience with appropriate software.
- Experience leading software and web development projects with a working knowledge of software development methods that are applicable to a new media environment.
- Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to communicate complex processes at all levels.
- Wide knowledge and experience in programming/multimedia development in a team.
- An understanding of change management challenges faced when introducing new production systems to work environments.
