Web Designer / Fixed Term Contract / London

My client is looking for a Web Designer who lives and breathes CSS,HTML, XML, JavaScript: a professional, who understands the importance of having a news-driven website. If you also like the idea of stretching Web 2.0 tools such as video, Flash and social media so that they combine accessibility with usability to deliver a great user experience, then you'll probably fit right in.

This is not an entry-level position for a front end developer. My client needs a web Designer who can jump right in and make a difference. There is currently an exceptional team in place, so the bar is high. It's an exciting, fast-paced environment, where you'll have an opportunity to work with some talented people on very high-profile projects.

As a Web Designer your duties will include:

- To be responsible for maintaining a news driven website and intranet homepage which is kept updated at all times.

- To work with web colleagues, services, ICT and e-government and partner organisations to develop new interactive, transactional and multi-media content and shared content that meets customers’ requirements which complement the communications solutions provided by the Marketing & Communications team.

- Manage the two Web Designers to oversee the day to day operation and longer term development of the website and intranet, lead and / or assist with web design projects on both internal and external sites, delegating to the two web designers as appropriate.

- Issue a monthly e-bulletin to web content managers to facilities networking and sharing best practice between this internal community.

The ideal Web Designer will have demonstrable experience in Web Content Designing using technologies such as front end tools such as CSS, Javascript, XML, HTML. Any exposure to ASP, ASP.Net and C# would be an advantage as would a background in Graphic Design.

Interviews for this position will start on the 12th December so an immediate start would be an advantage.
